Ashley Copeland

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and an AAMFT approved supervisor candidate to practice therapy in the Commonwealth of Virginia and therapy in Maryland. I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology before pursuing my Master’s in Couple and Family Therapy.

I provide treatment to children and families, couples, and adults managing issues of anxiety, depression, difficult life transitions, relational conflict and communication, and self-identity. My clinical experience includes private practice work, providing outpatient therapy to adults, couples, and families. My lens as a therapist is rooted in systemic and attachment based models. I also incorporate play and experiential modalities with children and families.

I prioritize creating an attuned, trusting relationship with my clients in order for them to bring their full and authentic selves to our sessions of therapy in Maryland. I adopt a curious stance and openly share reflections and feedback while also welcoming those in return. My hope is that you can feel seen, heard, and understood as you work towards better self understanding and positive change. I am an LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist.

When it comes to working with children and adolescents, I view parents as an integral part of the therapeutic process. As such, I also specialize in parental support alongside my work with the child or adolescent. I tailor sessions to either incorporate parents into sessions or in a separate parenting space depending on family needs.
