Trauma Therapy & EMDR
Trauma Therapy & EMDR
Trauma therapy is a treatment approach that helps clients recognize and process the impact of difficult life experiences. Having a place to work through trauma can significantly improve many issues including mood, sleep, work performance, interpersonal relationships, and general quality of life. We have several therapists that use talk therapy, expressive and mindfulness approaches, Polyvagal Theory, somatic therapies, as well as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to address trauma.
What is EMDR?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an extensively researched therapeutic model that has shown great effectiveness in treating the lasting effects of unresolved trauma to reduce symptoms and improve functioning. As part of this approach, clients can make past/present connections to understand their day to day struggles. Through the integrative approach of EMDR, triggers and stressors are understood, desensitized, and rewired for more adaptive responses.
