Personal Experience & Biography

Have you ever felt nervous or scared about what may come next? Are you preparing for a significant life transition and unsure how to approach it? Know that these feelings are part of the human experience, and everyone encounters them at some point. My hope is to help you navigate these uncharted territories. As your therapist, I strive to guide you through uncertainty with care, compassion, empathy, and a respect for the fact that each person has their own unique story. I take a collaborative approach to therapy and always emphasize that you are the author of your own narrative. I am here to support you whenever you feel stuck or uncertain about what lies ahead.

As a Resident in Marriage and Family Therapy in Virginia, I work with couples, individuals (including teens), and families. I specialize in supporting clients through significant life transitions such as premarital preparation, contemplating parenthood, moving out of the family home, and exploring new career paths. I also help clients strengthen communication in relationships, manage anxiety, and address other challenges that arise. Additionally, I am passionate about making therapy more accessible and welcoming for BIPOC individuals, couples, and families, whether you are seeking support for the first time or returning to therapy.

My goal is to create a space where you can explore and express your emotions, learn more about yourself, and work through the challenges you face. The therapeutic approaches I often draw upon include Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS) techniques, Structural Therapy, Bowen Family Systems Theory, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

Because I believe in the importance of everyone having their own story, I think it is equally important to share a bit of mine. I am a Maryland native and have spent my entire life here in the DMV area. I am an African American male whose faith is rooted in Christian Baptist traditions. In my free time, I enjoy watching and playing sports such as tennis, basketball, soccer, and football. I also love traveling, aquarium keeping, and spending time outdoors hiking. I am also currently completing my PhD at Virginia Tech in Human Development –with a Marriage and Family Therapy Concentration. This is only a snapshot of who I am, but if you have any questions about me or my approach, please feel free to ask. I am open to new clients seeking therapy virtually in Virginia.
