Personal Experience & Biography
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a passion for getting to the underlying issues and helping clients live better day to day. I work with adults, couples, and families and have over 15 years of clinical experience with expertise in helping people and relationships heal from difficult experiences and thrive. I tend to be a direct therapist and speak openly with my clients about their hopes for therapy as well as my perceptions and recommendations. I specialize in treating relational trauma, mood issues, relationship conflict and communication, and trauma. This can include anxiety, relationship distress, affair recovery, traumatic or adverse events, and personal growth.
I am an EMDRIA certified Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist and an approved EMDR consultant. EMDR is a model of therapy that helps people heal from trauma, distressing life events, and difficult memories. I specialize in treating relational trauma and in addition to my hourly clients, I provide individual and couple EMDR Intensives to help people experience relief more quickly than is possible in traditional weekly therapy. Please click here for more information on EMDR Intensives. I also provide EMDR consultation in the community for providers and programs using EMDR in their treatment settings.
I am a collaborative practitioner and welcome opportunities to coordinate care with psychiatrists, therapists, or any professional that is supporting my client’s treatment goals. I am a culturally humble, LGBTQ+ informed and affirming therapist.
If you are interested in EMDR or have any questions about my treatment model or approach please do not hesitate to schedule a consultation. I am open to new clients seeking therapy in Virginia and North Carolina.
